Rylee & Bo's New Year's Resolutions

Here we go, Rylee & Bo's resolutions for 2017...

1) Learn to share. (Even if it means something gets broken.)

Relationships (even with your dog, right?!) are more important than things. Sadly for Rylee she shared her Minnie ball pit and the results were not the best, especially for Minnie as you can see! In general I think our relationships are more important than our stuff. I suppose Bo is helping Rylee learn this early! Obviously we should respect other people and their stuff (This is what Bo needs to work on. Please let us get through this puppy chewing phase soon!), but no need in prioritizing "things" that are temporary over our relationships. I think this will be a hard lesson for my little bug to learn. She still isn't very fond of him sharing her Sofia couch!

2) Explore the world. (Or the yard since that's where they're allowed to go.)

The world is an amazing place! I started a 1 year Bible reading plan a few days before January 1st. I figure that'll give me some buffer days when I miss. That gives you a peek into one of my resolutions: finish the one year Bible reading plan. There is nothing more valuable I could make a priority than diving more into the Word of our Creator. Basically all "read through" the Bible plans start in Genesis with creation. It's amazing to know that God spoke the world into creation. The created world is absolutely fascinating. Why else would people flock to see giant mounds of earth full or rocks and dirt or big bodies of water surrounded by sand? It's beautiful and I don't want my little girl to miss the beauty of it and Who that beauty points to. I've loved rediscovering the beauty of creation as I watch it through my little girl's eyes of awe and discovery. Hopefully she and Bo will have many adventures exploring creation, under close adult observation of course.

3) More dancing! (Less tantrums!)

In the words of one of my favorite childhood shows, "Dance your cares away, worries for another day. Let the music play, down at Fraggle Rock!" (Or in this case down at the Wright home.) Tantrums are a daily part, some days an hourly part, of a toddler's life. Yesterday it was a sudden distaste for socks and today who knows what wasn't right in her little eyes. Hoping she learns (and maybe myself too) that getting upset over trivial things does you no good. I think we could all agree we spend more time worrying than we should. I think we would be wise to listen to Matthew, "Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?...Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.(Matthew‬ ‭6:27,33)" I also think adding in some dancing makes it all a little more fun!

So there you have it, Rylee and Bo's (and a few of my) resolutions for 2016 2017. (Why does it take half the year to write that correctly?!) Obviously they didn't write these but they should totally be their resolutions! I'd love to hear what some of your resolutions are. Perhaps 2017 will be the year some of us actually follow through on our resolutions! I'm really hoping Rylee follows through on the "more dancing, less tantrums" one! Here's to a happy new year from our little family to your's!

Our clan, minus the pup. He wouldn't cooperate and, as you can see, Rylee wasn't really wanting to take a pic herself!
